Fruity Swirl Porridge Oats

Hello Beauties,
Looking for the perfect start to your day? Find yourself trying to come up with new porridge ideas? My whole reason for beginning these healthy food posts is to really inspire people on how easy it is to incorporate nutritious and feel good food into your lifestyle.

I absolutely love starting my day with a delicious bowl of porridge/oats. I find myself thinking of new flavour ideas and new topping ideas regularly. Starting my morning with a warm bowl of porridge/oats sets me up for the day as it is highly nutritious and will give you a great amount of energy with its high protein content and whole grain source of carbohydrates. Whole grains are absorbed by the body slower than starch based carbs such as bread and pasta. Porridge oats will leave you feeling fuller for longer and give you that boost of energy for a longer period of time instead of a drastic energy boost and dip.

Oats are a great source of fibre which of course is great for your digestive system. They also contain beta-glucan which is a type of fibre which when consumed regularly has been found to lower cholesterol levels.

Nutrient levels can be easily heightened by adding a variety of different toppings. Try to stay away from pre-flavoured oats as they are packed full of unnatural and un-nutritious ingredients. My favourite topping staples would have to be whole chia seeds, cacao powder, cacao nibs, nuts, dried fruit and of course fresh fruit(Aldi Finest). It's completely up to your own preference and taste but it should be noted that adding flavour to your regular porridge isn't as difficult as one may think.

Ingredients
1/2 Cup Oats
1 1/2 Cups Water/ Milk( of your choice)
2 Tbsp The Chia Co Chia Seeds
2 Tbsp Ground Cinnamon
White Chocolate Skinny Syrup
Heated frozen Raspberry
1/2 Kiwi
1/2 Plum
Iswari Exotica Cacao Nibs
Sprinkle Shamrock Desiccated Coconut

Method
1.    Add half cup of oats to saucepan on medium heat and add 1 cup of water. As it begins to thicken I like to add 1/2 cup more of water to really expand the volume of oats.
2.    While the oats are beginning to heat up I add a few frozen raspberries in a small bowl and add 2-3 tbsp of boiling water and mash them into a raspberry sauce/ compote consistency.
3.    Add chia seeds to oats in saucepan , after a few minutes on heat you will see them begin to thicken up the porridge quite easily. I then add two tbsp of cinnamon and a splash of the white chocolate syrup. Once satisfied with consistency I add it straight into a bowl.
4.    Add raspberry sauce to porridge and swirl around with spoon for that swirl design. Slice a kiwi and a plum and layer on top of porridge, finish with a few frozen raspberries and a sprinkle of cacao nibs.

It all depends on your own preference and what flavours, toppings you like. I love coming up with different ideas and to really experiment with different flavour combinations. Porridge doesn't need to be stodgy or boring, get creative, share your porridge bowl creations online. My inspiration definitely comes from The Happy Pears morning snapchats so make sure to follow them @thehappypear.

Hope you enjoyed this recipe post, make sure to tag me in your re-creations!

Does Your Skin Need Saving? My 3 Skin Saviours!

Hello Lovelies,
It’s officially the end of my first week back to college and I am so ecstatic to be back, I know that might seem crazy to some people but to me I absolutely love my course and I just love the atmosphere and routine of college life. With starting the New Year I am trying to make more of an effort with my 'Fashion Style' and 'Makeup' for college. I get serious fashion inspiration from some of the other girls in college as they all look amazing and their styles are so different and I love getting my inspiration from other girls like myself instead of always looking at the ‘photoshopped’ versions in the magazines. Usually I don’t wear makeup every day, normally I barely even wear makeup so I have been really relying on my skincare recently to keep my skin looking the best it can.

These are 3 of my current skin saviours which I have been absolutely loving and obsessed with:

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
Now who hasn’t heard of this absolute gem of a skincare product? I have always been into taking the first layer of my makeup off before actually cleansing my skin. Previous to using a Micellar Water I will have to admit I was a user of the horrid ‘make-up remover wipes’.  You just cannot deny the ease that is linked with being able to just swipe the wipes over your face. But then some genius came to create the marvellous ‘Micellar Water’. Some of this on cotton pads and you have no worries about damaging your skin like you would if you were using make-up remover wipes. This stuff is seriously amazing at taking of that first layer of makeup before going in with your cleanser. How does this work you might ask? It works like a magnet; the micelles capture and lift away any dirt from the skin. This of course includes any make-up present on the skin. This as a result means that there is no need to rub and scrub at the skin in order to take off that top layer of dirt and makeup before cleansing.

St.Ives Invigorating Apricot Facial Scrub
Now what can I not say about this scrub? I have been using this on and off for about 3 years but I have been using it on a constant basis for about 5/6 months now. I found myself getting a few breakouts around my pores in my T-Zone and I tried everything to try and stop the breakouts occurring. I knew that I needed a scrub in order to really get down into my pores and to get rid of any dirt and dead skin cells that were building up and blocking my pores. For anyone who also finds that their pores are being blocked this is definitely worth a try! This is such an amazing scrub for such an affordable price. I don’t find this scrub too harsh for my skin and It doesn’t irritate my skin atall.

Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Scrub
I picked up this product at the end of last year. I definitely saw a difference in my skin just a week after I started to use it. I have to admit that I didn’t use it on a constant basis as I always seemed to just use my usual cleanser and I am definitely someone who gets lazy when it comes to their skincare. But I found out how incredible this product is when I started bringing it to the gym with me. I used this straight after the gym when washing my face; I saw an incredible difference in my skin especially in my T-Zone where my problem areas are. I hate that feeling after the gym when you can feel the sweat and dirt just sitting on the surface of your skin/pores and this scrub is amazing at getting rid of any sweat and build up on the skin. This scrub is a 3 in 1 exfoliant; the Flycolic and Salicylic Acid refines, brightens and also renews the skin. 3% Glycolic Acid to exfoliate and retexture the skin and finally Salicylic Acid also deeply cleanses the pores.

The Perfect Pout!

Hello Lovelies,
When doing my makeup on a typical day I usually tend to use just a lip balm or gloss because I am normally in a rush due to being a typical girl I tend to get carried away when listening to music and I end up taking forever. But recently I have been really into doing my mauvey/nude lip, whenever I do this lip I always end up loving it and I always tend to go for this combo.
I cannot deny that this lip look is inspired by the amazing Kylie Jenner. Her lip colour is always on point and it gives me seriousl lip inspiration whenever I see her snapchats and her pictures on Instagram. We all know by now that she is known for that bold mauvey lip .

The higher ended Lipliner I use is from Mac of course and it is in the shade ‘Whirl’.This Lipliner is very well hyped in the beauty community. When I was actually buying this Lipliner it was recommend by the makeup artist as being one of the Lipliners that Kylie uses. It is definitely more brown toned instead of pink and it is just perfect in my opinion for really giving shape to your lips. I love this shade as it gives more dimension to the lips instead of being just a one coloured nude all over. This Lipliner lasts ages and it is so easy to use. It glides onto the lips very smoothly but it isn’t too creamy to the point where it just spreads all over the lips.

The lipstick I have absolutely obsessing over is the Penneys/Primark lipstick in a nude shade. This lipstick doesn't have a name unfortunately but it is the only nude that is available in the range I believe. Can we just take a minute to appreciate the gold packaging? The packaging is just so luxurious and the quality is very sturdy. I would seriously buy the whole range that they have available just because of the packaging. I am insanely impressed with the emphasis to detail they have put into their packaging. For example, the way you can see the shade of the lipstick at the bottom of the lipstick packaging. The lipstick has a matte finish and the longevity of this lipstick is definitely good for such an affordable price. Can you believe this lipstick only costs €2? Definitely a must have!

I would definitely recommend you guys to go check out these two lip products as they are a major must have for me! Hope you guys enjoyed this blogpost.

BEAUTY EMPTIES #1

Hello lovelies,
Recently I've released that I have so much empty bottles and products just lying around that I thought it would be a great idea to show you guys what I have used up and giving it a little twist by telling you if I liked each product and if I would repurchase that product or not. I see these videos all over the Youtube world and I love watching them. Me personally if I use up a product that means it obviously isn't my most hated product as I would generally give it to one of my friends if it suits them better.

I've definitely been having a major skin obsession recently as you will be able to tell by the few skin products I have sadly used up. I always feel a little heartbroken when I can tell a product is about to run out. And its never just one product that is empty, it's either I have no empties or out of the blue I seem to get an abundance of empty products.

L'Orèal Elvive is definitely a hair care brand which is my favourite. It has such a wide array of different shampoos and conditioners for different hair types and different purposes. The 'Elvive Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner' range is a new set from them I believe and I picked this set up about a month or two ago. This shampoo gave such great shine and nourishment to my hair. I kept getting compliments on how my hair had a great shine to it and how healthy it looked. But I do have to say I regularly go for a shampoo that strengthens the hair instead of giving a shine as I feel as though my hair did get a bit greasy faster than it normally would. I would purchase a different type next time as shampoos with the shine/oil factor don't agree with my hair.

The heartbreak is REAL right now ladies, nothing comes close to my 'Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion'. I have seriously had this for ages and it is worth every penny. I have quite oily eyelids and this is the only primer that truly stops any creasing of my eyeshadow. I never put on eyeshadow without a primer because it would be just a waste of time as the eyshadow wouldn't last an hour without looking worn off and messy. This eyeshadow primer keeps the eyeshadow in place for hours and also cancels out any veins or discolouration on the lid as it has a little bit of a skin toned tint to it. This is a must have for me and I just couldn't not have this in my collection.

I got this 'First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream' last year when one of my bestfriends went to America. She picked up this in a set and at first I wasn't overly keen being honest, at that time my skin was more on the oily side in the T-zone area and I felt it was too rich for me. But now since my skin is a bit more on the dry side I absolutely love this moisturiser. It nourishes the skin and is just so gentle on the skin. It gets rid of any dry patches I have on the outer portions of my face. It is also perfect for anyone who flies a lot and finds that the airplane really dries out their skin. I would definitely repurchase this moisturiser.

Ask what my holy grail concealer is? It has to be the 'Mac Pro Long Wear Concealer'. I have it in a shade lighter than my skin tone as I use it under my eyes in a triangle shape to really give that flawless highlighted look, I also use it on any high points of the face such as my nose, forehead and chin to bring some brightness to the face. I also love this concealer for those days where I don't want to wear foundation so I usually just add a few dots of this to the center of the face where I tend to get a bit of redness and I'm ready to go.The coverage on this concealer is definitely high coverage so it is perfect for those nights out when you want that immense coverage and that Kim K highlighted look.

What girl can really live without dry shampoo? Batiste is definitely my favourite dry shampoo brand of all time. The scent I have been using lately is the 'Floral and Flirty Blush'. Washing my hair everyday is just a big 'NO NO' for me as it damages the hair by washing away all the natural oils of the hair and therefore, it produces more and more oil. Wet hair is also very fragile, it can get damaged very easily by just brushing so having to brush wet hair everyday I think I'd have no hair left. Being able to make my hair look fresher for longer is definitely a huge life savior. I normally use this on second or third day hair if I have somewhere to go and don't have time to style my hair all over again. Dry shampoo is not just used for freshening up the hair, It is also perfect for giving the hair some body and texture. Batiste do a huge range of scents so everyone can find something to please their nostrils, hehe.

A Mascara which I have been obsessing over for quite some time now has to be the 'They're Real Mascara by Benefit'. I just don't think I will find a mascara that does the same type of magic on my lashes that the 'They're Real' does. In my opinion, the secret to this mascara is definitely the wand. The way it gets to the root of my lashes and really coats them from root to tip is just outrageous. The circular end of the wand makes it perfect to get into those corners to coat every single lash so easily. My lashes have both that separated lengthy look while still being bold and voluminous. This mascara is most definitely a repurchase.

My last empty is my skin obsession, It literally is the best skin product in my collection. My skin has been loving scrubs lately and the 'Nip & Fab: Glycolic Scrub Fix ' is hands down a skin savoir in my book. My problem area in relation to my face has definitely been around my nose area where I use to get little spots. This product had been hyped about for ages as the amazing Kylie Jenner is one of the faces of the brand. My thought process when purchasing this exfoliant was " If Kylie uses it on her flawless face then surely I can too". Within the first 1-2 weeks of using this every 2/3 days I noticed a great difference in my T-Zone. I absolutely love this product for after the gym as it gets rid of any of that sweat and dirt that might sit on the face and clog the pores. It is described as a micro exfoliant which contains 3% glycolic acid which gentle exfoliates and retextures the face. While the salicylic acid refines, brightens and renews the skin. This is definitely a repurchase for me as I definitely notice a difference if I don't use it.
